5 Axis CNC Milling
5-axis machining is a type of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining where a cutting tool moves along five different axes simultaneously. Unlike traditional 3-axis machining, which moves only in X, Y, and Z directions, 5-axis machines can also rotate the workpiece or the cutting tool along two additional axes (usually called A and B).
This allows for:
Machining complex shapes and curved surfaces in a single setup.
Multi-sided machining without having to reposition the part repeatedly.
Improved precision and surface finish for intricate components.
Reduced production time since fewer setups are needed.
It’s widely used in industries like aerospace, automotive, medical, and mold-making where parts have complex geometries.
